about the Sabin PTA
-
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) at Sabin Elementary School is a volunteer-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit group affiliated with the Oregon PTA. We are made up of parents, teachers, administrators and community members whose main purpose is to serve the Sabin community in promoting the health, welfare, safety and education of our students.
-
We serve as a supportive resource for ideas and initiatives that align with our mission and values. We strive to provide Sabin community members with information, funding, volunteer resources, logistical support, and communication tools to implement their ideas. We also work to support our teachers, in their work and advocacy with Sabin students.
-
Our fundraising and volunteer efforts support the Sabin community in a variety of ways, such as:
Giving pre-paid cards to every teacher and key staff for classroom supplies and teaching aids
Organizing community events throughout the year, including Sabin’s Back to School Night, Spring Carnival, Dine Out nights, and many more.
Managing the Lost & Found and the Sabin Clothing Closet
Designing, ordering, and selling official Sabin merch, from hats and T-shirts to lawn signs and Sabin-branded socks
Updating the Sabin marquee sign with timely reminders and encouraging community messages
Hosting various trainings and informative guest speakers to address specific topics raised by the Sabin community
-
The Sabin PTA welcomes anyone who wants to be involved and make a difference in the education, health, and welfare of our children. We recognize that our school community members have a wide range of ideas on how to support and advocate for our students and we encourage all types of participation with the school community.
-
Our school is enriched by the energy and enthusiasm of the entire community and we encourage EVERY adult with children at Sabin Elementary to join the PTA. It is through our volunteer hours and overall participation in your student’s education that we strengthen our community and achieve success together.
Becoming a registered member of the PTA is not required to attend meetings or participate in Sabin community events. However, it is required to vote on official business in PTA meetings (such as approving the annual budget or voting for officers). PTA membership brings:
Membership in the largest all-volunteer child advocacy group
Voting rights at PTA meetings, which include critical spending and budget allocation decisions
100% tax deductible donation
Contribution to the national, state, and Sabin PTAs
